Celebration at medical center
Whitney Medical will hold a pre-opening celebration Friday, March 22, at 5:30 p.m. The event will be an opportunity to meet the team, enjoy refreshments and see school performances. There will be prizes and giveaways. The community is encouraged to attend. The event will be held outside the front entrance of the facility, located at 200 North San Jacinto in Whitney.


Burger lunch at Citizens State
Citizens State Bank in Whitney will sell hamburgers to benefit Relay For Life Friday, March 29, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Everyone is invited to stop by for lunch and support a good cause.


BBQ lunch set in Covington
New Hope Lodge #652 will hold a barbecue brisket fund raiser Saturday, March 23, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge in downtown Covington. A full meal with drink and dessert will be available for $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Dine-in or carry-out service is available.


LWA changes show dates
Lake Whitney Arts has announced a change to production dates for the comedy “Mama Won’t Fly.” The run will open Saturday, April 27 (dinner show) at 6:30 p.m. and continue Sunday, April 28, at 2 p.m.;  Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, May 4, at 7 p.m.; Sunday, May 5, at 2 p.m. For more information, call the theatre at 254-694-5105.


Museum to be open Saturday
The Whitney Area Museum will be open Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The museum is located at the corner of North Brazos Street and West Jefferson Avenue near downtown Whitney. Admission is free.


Chamber to host girls’ night out
The Lake Whitney Chamber of Commerce is planning a “Girls’ Night Out – Chicks & Salsa” event Saturday, March 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Whitney. The event will include shopping, fun, entertainment and refreshments.
