In response to citizen complaints, code enforcement for the City of Whitney will become active, and the code enforcement team will focus on a few specific streets at a time.
Chad Avenue, Dee Avenue, Pick Avenue, Katy Avenue, Dwayne Circle and Texas Street will be the starting area of Whitney’s proactive city-wide code enforcement campaign.
The city reported that it is committed to fostering a healthy, clean, safe and attractive community for all residents.
The city’s dedicated code enforcement team will be addressing the following code violations:
• abandoned and discarded furniture
• junk and/or salvage vehicles
• lawn mowers, fixtures, and appliances (e.g., refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers)
• scrap metal, bottles, cans, papers and other miscellaneous salvage items
• compost piles
• lumber, building materials, junk, trash and other debris
• tall grass and weeds
• tires
Code enforcement will be providing a seven-day grace period to residents from the time of this notice to cure any of the above code violations and bring the aforementioned areas in to compliance.
Starting September 20, Code Enforcement will begin enforcement action if needed.
By addressing these issues, the City of Whitney aims to enhance the visual appeal of the community, promote cleanliness and maintain property values.
“Let’s work together to ensure compliance with local codes and regulations,” the city announced in a notice to the community. “Take pride in your neighborhood and help create a welcoming environment for everyone.”
