The George G. and Alva Hudson Smith Foundation has announced its grant awards for 2023. The foundation is committing $110,000 to seven organizations across Hill County—including Blum, Covington, Hillsboro, Itasca, Whitney and Woodbury.
In the 29 years of its existence, the foundation has awarded over $2,800,000 to area organizations which serve the community.
This year’s grants were awarded to a variety of educational, community service, recreational, social service and emergency response organizations for projects consistent with the foundation’s mission to enrich the lives of Hill County citizens. Grant amounts ranged from $2,600 to $36,500.
The largest grant was to the Boys and Girls Club of Hill County, for debt reduction and for the purchase of security cameras to allow the organization to meet requirements for safety and security set by the Boys and Girls Club of America.
