Whitney’s annual Christmas parade and tree lighting will wrap up a day of activities as the Lake Whitney Chamber of Commerce and the City of Whitney team up for the first downtown Grinch Festival Saturday, December 9.
A full day of Grinch-themed activities are planned, beginning with the 14th annual Christmas Bazaar that begins at 10 a.m. Attendees can check off their Christmas lists with downtown vendors offering arts and crafts and baked goods and with downtown businesses. There will also be entertainment throughout the day.
The public is invited to bring an ornament to hang on Whitney’s downtown Christmas tree.
The annual downtown Christmas parade will get underway at 6 p.m., starting near Whitney Intermediate School, heading north on San Jacinto, left on Washington, left on San Marcos, left on Cleveland and right on San Jacinto, ending back at the school.
The city’s tree lighting will begin right after the parade downtown.
Churches, students, clubs and organizations are all invited to participate in the Christmas parade. Lineup will be at the intermediate school starting at 5 p.m. Judging of parade entries will start at 5:30 p.m.
