Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced last week that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for December, 2.5% more than in December 2022.
The City of Whitney’s December allocation was $79,961.06, up 11.78% over last year. Year-to-date figures show the city receiving $975,305.01 so far this year, an increase of 13.15% over the previous year.
Hill County’s December allocation came to $344,156.34, an increase of 3.03% over last December. Year to date, the county’s sales tax revenue has totaled $4,178,574.21, a 4.90% increase over the previous year.
In the county seat, Hillsboro’s sales tax revenue was down almost 25% compared to last December, with a total allocation of $383,513.98. For the year, allocations are up just over 2% in the city, for a total of $5,356,347.94.
Allocations and changes for other Hill County cities in December were: Abbott – $13,626.74, up 41.45%; Aquilla – $1,430.75, down 20.92%; Blum – $3,977.28, up 37.97%; Bynum – $879.67, down 15.72%; Carls Corner – $5,101.32, down 6.79%; Covington – $6,908.49, up 14.16%; Hubbard – $22,461.03, up 7.16%; Itasca – $20,837.98, up 31.42%; Malone – $2,374.65, up 33.16%; Mertens – $507.01, down 10.31%; Mount Calm – $1,240.43, down 62.73%; Penelope – $696.17, up 5.37%.
Bosque County’s sales tax revenue jumped up almost 297% in December for a total of $284,145.49.
For the year, Bosque County’s allocations are up almost 31% for a total of $1,167,177.33.
Allocations and changes for Bosque County cities were: Clifton – $93,080.17, up 17.72%; Cranfills Gap – $3,435.02, down 8.26%; Iredell – $3,051.04, up 18.55%; Meridian – $18,816.96, down 24.14%; Morgan – $4,321.21, up 20.97%; Valley Mills – $13,859.80, up 8.04%; Walnut Springs – $6,109.86, up 4.32%.
These allocations are based on sales made in October by businesses that report tax monthly.
