Houston Crime Stoppers released a sketch of the suspect in the shooting death of 17-year-old Louise Wilson of Whitney and announced an increased reward Thursday, January 18.
Wilson was traveling through downtown Houston on her way to Galveston Sunday, December 10, when she was fatally shot by a man in a newer model, black, four-door sedan.
Houston Crime Stoppers released a sketch of the suspect in the shooting death of 17-year-old Louise Wilson of Whitney and announced an increased reward Thursday, January 18.
Houston police called it a road rage incident and said that Wilson “didn’t do anything wrong” and was trying to get away from the man in the vehicle.
Police described the suspect as a light-skinned black male in his mid-20s with short, dreadlock-styled hair.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
“We have just given you up to 20,000 reasons to doubt and not trust everyone in your world right now,” said Daniel Wilson, Louise’s father. “You will have to live with that doubt for the rest of your life, having to wonder who might turn you in.”
He added, “Even if no one ever does turn you in, and you somehow escape man’s judgment here on Earth, I know you will have to face another judgment — one that is eternal. I do pray that you find salvation, because I know you don’t have it right now. It’s easy to repent and ask for forgiveness; maybe one day we can meet face to face as brothers in Christ.”
Wilson thanked those who have raised money for the reward and thanked law enforcement working on the case, and he asked elected officials to take action. “To my state senator who commented that there isn’t a legislative remedy to this problem, I beg you to reconsider your position,” he said. “There are things that can be done, and local law enforcement needs your help. From traffic cams, to license plate readers, to even something as simple as having DOT cameras be able to record, this would help solve crimes in the future.”
Louise’s mother, Krista Wilson, said that her thoughts have been occupied with how her daughter suffered and died on the side of the road. “To Louise’s killer: I don’t know what life you have lived, what successes or hardships you’ve had, but I do know that there will never be an explanation you can give me that will justify what you did to my daughter,” she said. “When you chose to spray my daughter with bullets, that’s when you lost your right to live freely among society.”
Anyone with information is being encouraged to call Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
