The third annual Hill County Summit, hosted by the Go Hillsboro organization, will feature world-renowned economist Dr. M. Ray Perryman of Waco. His topic will be “Navigating Growth: The Economic Forecast.”
The free event is scheduled for noon Thursday, April 25, at the Hill College Vara Martin Daniel Performing Arts Center in Hillsboro. A light lunch will be available at 11:30 a.m.
Dr. Perryman is founder and CEO of The Perryman Group, an economic research and analysis firm based in Waco. The firm has served the needs of more than 3,000 clients, including two-thirds of the Global 25, over half of the Fortune 100, the 12 largest technology firms in the world, 12 U.S. Cabinet Departments, the nine largest firms in the U.S., the six largest energy companies operating in the U.S., and the five largest U.S. banking institutions.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Baylor and a PhD in Economics from Rice. He has held numerous academic positions; authored several books, more than 400 academic papers and 3,000 trade articles; and received hundreds of prestigious awards for his academic and professional efforts.
In addition to his degrees from Baylor and Rice, Dr. Perryman holds an honorary doctorate from the International Institute for Advanced Studies. He has held numerous academic positions throughout his career and is currently a senior research fellow of the IC2 Institute at the University of Texas and institute distinguished professor of economic theory and method at the International Institute for Advanced Studies.
Dr. Perryman hosts a daily radio commentary with frequent appearances on National Public Radio and writes a syndicated column that appears in hundreds of outlets.
He dedicates a significant portion of his time to pro bono work aimed at helping to solve pressing social problems, such as hunger, indigent health care, poverty and child maltreatment.
Dr. Perryman has been called “The unofficial state economist” by The New York Times and “The most quoted man in Texas” by Texas Monthly.
In the first two years of the summit, Go Hillsboro welcomed State Demographer Dr. Lloyd Potter and State Comptroller Glenn Hegar to Hillsboro to share their knowledge with the community.
The Performing Arts Center is located on the Hill College campus at 112 Lamar Drive in Hillsboro. All are invited.
