Jordan Walker is a 2023 Whitney graduate who currently studies criminal justice at Tarleton State University in Stephenville. Walker was recently elected president of the Criminal Justice Society and has been accepted into the honors college. In June, she will represent Lake Whitney in the Miss Texas USA pageant, where one competitor will go on to become Miss Texas in the ultimate Miss USA pageant.
Sponsoring Walker are local businesses Sisters’ Garden and Lake Whitney Dental. When asked how she’s feeling about the pageant, Walker stated: “I’m really excited! I didn’t think that I would have this opportunity – I’m very blessed to be able to do this. It’s a little intimidating because I’ve only done one pageant, but it’s exciting.”
Her foremost advice to those wishing to enter the world of pageantry is to do their research: “I would do research on the types of pageants that you would want to participate in — if you’re wanting to do Miss USA, follow Miss USA and just stay up to date with all of those things. They’ll let you know when they’re accepting people.”
Voting for the People’s Choice Award will open at noon Thursday, May 23; the contestant who wins the award will automatically compete in the finals. To vote, visit misstexasusa.com.
The pageant will take place over the course of a preliminary show Friday, June 21, and a final show Saturday, June 22.
Both events will begin at 8 p.m. and be held at the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel, located at 2001 Post Oak Boulevard in Houston.
