The Department of Public Safety (DPS) has released information about a fatal crash that occurred in Whitney Saturday, July 6.
According to DPS reports, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 22 near HCR 2105 south of Whitney at approximately 4:30 p.m.
DPS Sergeant Ryan Howard reported that a westbound Dodge Durango failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of an eastbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle, resulting in a collision.
The motorcyclist, identified as Nathan Josephus, 36, of Whitney, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in critical condition.
Howard said that the investigation is active and ongoing. Local first responders also assisted at the scene.
