The Bosque County Sheriff’s Office reported last week that investigators are awaiting the identification of human remains that were discovered near the Whitney Dam Monday, September 16.
BCSO announced that Corps of Engineers employees located what they believed to be a human bone near the base of a cliff where the Whitney Dam meets ground level. After further searching the area, they located additional human bones.
In a press release, the sheriff’s office reported that investigators found items of clothing and a wallet that contained the identification of a man who was reported missing from Laguna Park.
William C. Stramp was reported missing on July 29, 2022, after his vehicle was abandoned at a Laguna Park convenience store. Authorities said that a number of searches have been conducted since that time, and the investigation has remained open.
“This area is very obscure and difficult to get to, as it was on the edge of a rock wall with heavy brush and timber growth preventing passage and blocking visibility,” the press release read.
The sheriff’s office said that evidence and statements from the family indicated that Stramp intended to take his own life.
The remains have been sent to a lab for positive identification.
BCSO investigators were assisted by the Texas Rangers and a Waco Police Department Crime Scene Unit at the scene.
