After decades of dedicated service, our beloved library director Denise Carter has retired. Denise began in the Whitney library system in 2006, bringing 48 years of expertise as a librarian. She is leaving behind a legacy of community connection and inspiration.
In our small town, Denise built (literally) a wonderful legacy as she coordinated a drive to construct the current library building at no cost to the taxpayers of Whitney or the county. The new building and her great achievement celebrate its 10-year anniversary this month.
Denise, known for her warm smile and encyclopedic knowledge, has transformed the library into a welcoming hub where patrons of all ages feel at home. From organizing an army of volunteers, to creating engaging story times for children, to spearheading book clubs and untold numbers of events, Denise fostered a love for reading, expanding minds and connecting that enriched the lives of countless residents.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her impact will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she has inspired. Denise leaves behind a trained, ready and willing staff that will continue her good works and keep your library running until a new library director is hired.
Thank you, Denise, for all you have done for this community. We love you!
