Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced last week that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for November, 1.1% more than in November 2023.
The City of Whitney’s November payment totaled $90,573, up just over 1% from last November, and the year-to-date amount was reported at $907,548, also up just over 1% from 2023.
In the county seat, the City of Hillsboro’s November allocation was $490,091, up 11.66% compared to last November. For the first 11 months of 2024, the city’s allocations have totaled $5,118,356, up about 3% compared to the same period in 2023.
Hill County’s payment for November was reported to be $351,446, a decrease of almost 5% compared to last November. So far in 2024, the county has received $4,357,419, according to the comptroller. That is up almost 14% from the first 11 months of 2023.
Allocations and changes for other Hill County cities in November included: Abbott – $13,022.68, down 8.94%; Aquilla – $1,675.57, up 11.10%; Blum – $4,764.06, up 15.11%; Bynum – $1,244.73, up 0.83%; Carl’s Corner – $5,405.17, up 12.95%; Covington – $7,324.42, down 6.82%; Hubbard – $32,666.99, up 7.12%; Itasca – $24,105.79, up 8.96%; Malone – $2,501.44, up 0.69%; Mertens – $636.28, up 35.15%; Mount Calm – $1,878.20, up 7.75%; Penelope – $1,365.51, up 19.47%.
Bosque County’s November allocation was $75,283, down 11% from last November. Year to date, Bosque County’s sales tax revenue is about the same as it was in 2023, for a total of $884,882.
Allocations and changes for Bosque County cities were: Clifton – $98,477.68, down 11.05%; Cranfills Gap – $4,259.31, up 12.47%; Iredell – $3,576.04, up 11.68%; Meridian – $27,145.32, down 0.82%; Morgan – $5,475.29, up 19.29%; Valley Mills – $19,951.54, up 3.98%; Walnut Springs – $10,010.19, up 36.46%.
These allocations are based on sales made in September by businesses that report tax monthly and on sales made in July, August and September by quarterly filers.
