Over 62% of Hill County’s registered voters and about 70% of Bosque County voters had cast ballots by the end of Election Day, making selections at the federal, state and local levels.
At the top of the ballot, Republican candidate Donald Trump received almost 82% of the Hill County vote, with Democrat Kamala Harris receiving about 17.5%. Trump will return to the White House in January to begin his second term in office.
In the race for U.S. Senator, Republican incumbent Ted Cruz garnered almost 79% of the Hill County vote, with Democrat Colin Allred receiving just over 19%. Cruz will return to the U.S. Senate after winning the race with about 53% of the vote statewide.
Jake Ellzey, the Republican incumbent in the District 6 U.S. Representative seat, won another term after defeating challenger John Love, a Democrat. In Hill County, Ellzey received just over 83% of the vote. Ellzey won over 65% of the district-wide vote to retain his seat.
Bosque County residents selected Republican incumbent John Carter for the U.S. Representative, District 31 seat over Democrat Stuart Whitlow. Carter won about 83% of the Bosque County vote and over 64% of the district-wide vote to keep his seat.
Republican incumbent and Hill County resident Angelia Orr will serve another term in the Texas House of Representatives after defeating Democratic challenger Albert Hunter for the District 13 seat. Orr received over 83% of the Hill County vote, 79% of the Bosque County vote and about 76% of the vote in her district.
There was only one contested race at the county level, with Republican Precinct 3 Commissioner Scotty Hawkins defeating Democratic challenger Pollyanna Thibodeau after receiving about 80% of the precinct’s vote.
