The Whitney City Council met in its November session Thursday, November 21.
The council approved a contract with Vyve Broadband in an effort to improve communication and internet services across city facilities.
The council voted to issue a request for proposals for administrative services to navigate the FEMA Public Assistance program to optimize funding. The administrative team would support creating or updating Hazard Mitigation Plans to identify and mitigate possible hazards in the area.
A commercial property contract was approved for the purchase of 115 and 117 West Washington Avenue, with a closing date pending.
The council accepted a contract from Pink Elephant LLC for the purchase of land at 201 North San Jacinto Street. The council opened sealed bids and accepted the purchase proposal from Pink Elephant at last month’s meeting.
A special event permit was granted to Rudy Reyna for a community Christmas dinner to be held Saturday, December 7, which will require the closure of South Brazos Street between Washington and Railroad Avenues from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A minor typographical correction was made in a resolution approved last month dedicating the portion of HCR 1240 that serves Whitney ISD “Wildcat Drive.”
A lien release was approved for property at 922 East Chad Avenue, which was recently sold. The new owner paid a previous mowing lien after it was discovered during a title search.
The council declared the fire department’s Brush Truck 325 and a 2016 Ford Explorer police vehicle as surplus material to be auctioned, as they are no longer assets to the departments due to repair costs.
The council’s next regularly scheduled meeting will be Thursday, December 19, at 6 p.m.
