Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced last week that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for December, 6.8% more than in December 2023.
The City of Whitney’s December allocation was $88,887, up 11.16% compared to December 2023. Whitney’s total payments for 2024 through December totaled $996,436, up 2.16% compared to 2023.
Hill County’s December allocation was reported at $365,804, up 6.29% compared to the previous December. Payments in 2024 through December totaled $4,723,224, an increase of 13% from 2023.
In the county seat, the City of Hillsboro’s December payment was $495,894, up 29.30% from December 2023. The year-end total for Hillsboro was reported to be $5,614,251 through December, which is up 4.81% from 2023.
Allocations and changes for other Hill County cities in December were as follows: Abbott – $16,534.15, up 21.33%; Aquilla – $1,391.13, down 2.76%; Blum – $4,357.85, up 9.56%; Bynum – $935.99, up 6.40%; Carl’s Corner – $5,772.01, up 13.14%; Covington – $6,901.57, down 0.10%; Hubbard – $27,444.42, up 22.18%; Itasca – $34,565.97, up 65.87%; Malone – $2,070.25, down 12.81%; Mertens – $514.57, up 1.49%; Mount Calm – $1,356.62, up 9.36%; and Penelope – $744.64, up 6.96%.
Bosque County’s December payment was $145,842, down 48.67% from December 2023. The county’s 2024 allocations totaled $1,030,725 through December, down 11.69% compared to the 2023 total.
Allocations and changes for Bosque County cities in December were: Clifton – $88,966.34, down 4.41%; Cranfills Gap – $2,953.82, down 14.00%; Iredell – $3,252.57, up 6.60%; Meridian – $20,531.95, up 9.11%; Morgan – $4,034.92, down 6.62%; Valley Mills – $16,918.63, up 22.06%; Walnut Springs – $7,807.03, up 27.77%.
These allocations are based on sales made in October by businesses that report tax monthly.
