The Hill County Commissioners Court accepted a donation of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) during a meeting held Tuesday, December 31.
Hill County Emergency Services District (ESD) 2 President Tad Duncan was in attendance to present the devices, which will be placed at the county annex on Covington Street in Hillsboro and the Precinct 1 annex in Huron.
The district also provided wall-mounted first aid kits for the same locations.
ESD 2 previously provided AEDs for sheriff’s office and constable vehicles in an effort to ensure life-saving measures can be quickly taken by first responders.
Commissioners also approved the annual interlocal agreement between the county and the City of Blum. The city provides the county with water used for road work, and the county performs work on the city’s portion of HCRs 1127 and 1137 in exchange.
The court accepted a right-of-way easement from the Erma Jane Degner Trust for the project to construct a bridge on HCR 3412 at White Rock Creek. The bridge project was previously approved by the state and will be federally funded.
The court approved a proposed purchasing policy that lays out requirements for county offices making large purchases. With the exception of previously budgeted expenses for commissioners — who often make large purchases for road work — purchases of $5,000 or more must go before the court for approval.
Agreements were approved between the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority and constables in precincts 1 and 3 specifying that their authorized vehicles are allowed free passage on toll roads.
Lewis said that a policy regarding grant administration procedures will be on the court’s next agenda and asked commissioners to review the proposal and suggest any changes.
In other action, the court approved a lease-purchase agreement with SHI Government Solutions for previously approved software and approved an agreement for a new credit card processing system for the county clerk’s office.
Commissioners were expected to hold a special session Tuesday, January 7, and the next regular meeting date is Tuesday, January 14. Meetings are held at 8:30 a.m. in the Hill County Courtroom of the courthouse.
