A Hill County Grand Jury indicted 39-year-old Christopher Loud of Hubbard Friday, January 17, for a courtroom attack that seriously injured his attorney in December.
Loud was indicted for aggravated assault on a public servant causing serious bodily injury for the attack, which occurred in the 66th Judicial District Court of Hill County Monday, December 16.
Witnesses to the incident reported that Loud suddenly attacked his court-appointed attorney, Patrick Dohoney, who was seated and unaware of the defendant’s quick approach, upon entering the courtroom. Loud was quickly taken to the ground by law enforcement.
Dohoney suffered broken bones in his face and permanently lost vision in his left eye due to the attack.
The incident occurred as jury selection was beginning in Loud’s trial for breaking into his grandmother’s home and assaulting her in October 2023.
It was the second attempt at bringing Loud to trial in that case. The first ended in a mistrial after he became disruptive and frightened a juror, who refused to take the oath.
