The filing period for May city and school elections opened Wednesday, January 15, and will continue through the Friday, February 14, deadline.
Both the City of Whitney and Whitney Independent School District have seats expiring this year.
For the City of Whitney, the positions currently held by Mayor Janice Sanders and council members Sam Pierce and Jason Ince will be on the ballot this year.
On the Whitney ISD Board of Trustees, the school board seats of Katie Foster and Amy Hoffman are expiring.
Those interested in filing for a position can do so at Whitney City Hall, 115 West Jefferson Avenue, for city positions or the Whitney ISD superintendent’s office, 305 South San Jacinto, for school board seats.
Whitney City Hall is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, and the superintendent’s office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
