
Whitney High School German students brought home 22 top-10 wins from the 43rd Annual Texas State German Contest held last weekend at Texas State University in San Marcos. The Whitney team placed ninth overall in sweepstakes among schools with a large German program.
Topping the list with first-place wins were Syvana Hill and Dariana Contreras with their club album, and the lower-level puppeteers Jude Meazell, Zoey Flores, Jocelyn Bidwell, Annalease Titsworth and Emma Bunselmeyer with their performance of “Die Drei Kleinen Schweinchen.”
Fourth-place award winners were: Contemporary Music – Zoey Flores; Folk Dance Team – Jocelyn Bidwell, Zoey Flores, Brayden Hendrix, Syvana Hill, Jude Meazell, Irlanda Ortega, Alexis Orizaba, Xavier Romero, Raley Seale, Madison Seely, Chaz Shoaff, Annalease Titsworth, Kenzi Ward.
Fifth-place winners were: Poetry Reading 1 – Sean Hull; Upper Puppets – Brayden Hendrix, Sean Hull, Irlanda Ortega, Syvana Hill, Shelby Gee, William Bettschen, Quinn Hamel.
Sixth-place winners were: Doll Costume – Syvana Hill; Shirt Design – Dariana Contreras, Madison Seely.
Seventh-place winners were: Shirt Design – Emma Bunselmeyer, Zoey Flores, Jocelyn Bidwell; Einzeltanz – Xavier Romero and Zoey Flores; Vocabulary 4 – Syvana Hill.
Eighth-place winners were: Listening Comprehension 2 – Jude Meazell; Sight Reading 1 – Sean Hull.
Ninth-place winners were: Einzeltanz – Madison Seely and Annalease Titsworth; Needlework – Raley Seale; Reading Comprehension 2 – Jude Meazell; Vocabulary 2 – Emma Bunselmeyer.
Tenth-place winners were: Grammar 4 – Dariana Contreras; Listening Comprehension 1 – Greidys Contreras; Listening Comprehension 4 – Dariana Contreras; Scavenger Hunt Team – Dariana Contreras, Zoey Flores, Jocelyn Bidwell and Greidys Contreras; Spelling 1 – Raley Seale.
