Early voting in the Saturday, May 3, election got underway Tuesday, April 22. The City of Whitney and Whitney ISD will have a joint election.
City of Whitney voters will choose a mayor and two council members, and voters within the school district will select two board members.
Early voting will be conducted in the Whitney ISD Administration Building Board Room, located at 305 South San Jacinto in Whitney. Early voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays from Tuesday, April 22, through Monday, April 28, and extended early voting hours will be offered from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 29.
Election day voting will be in the same location from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 3.
In the race for mayor, incumbent Janice Sanders will be challenged by Brian Burkhart and Zach Hamlin.
City council members Sam Pierce and Jason Ince are running again and will be challenged by Amy Teal and Debbie Gregory.
Whitney ISD has two school board seats available this year, with five applicants seeking a spot.
Incumbent Amy Hoffman filed to keep her seat, and others on the ballot will be Susan Keen, Connie Terry, Raygenna Heath and Larry Farmer.
