Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.3 billion in local sales tax allocations for May, 4.5% more than in May 2024.
The City of Whitney’s May allocation was $94,826, up 5.70% compared to last May. Year to date, the city has taken in $429,751, up 8.21% from the same period last year.
In the county seat, the City of Hillsboro’s payment this month was $601,266, up 30.47% compared to last May. Year-to-date figures show the city receiving $2,478,085 through May, up 15.63% compared to the first five months of last year.
Allocations and changes for other Hill County cities in May were: Abbott – $32,493, down 12.79%; Aquilla – $1,851, up 26.73%; Blum – $5,212, up 15.98%; Bynum – $1,249, up 14.97%; Carl’s Corner – $5,823, up 4.58%; Covington – $7,187, down 0.42%; Hubbard – $41,559, up 19.88%; Itasca – $32,750, down 2.67%; Malone – $2,686, up 6.66%; Mertens – $468.28, down 9.49%; Mount Calm – $2,225, up 26.15%; Penelope – $1,371.56, up 10.18%.
Bosque County’s May allocation was $93,880, up 27.95% compared to last May. So far in 2025, Bosque County’s payments have totaled $457,656, up 16.86% compared to the first five months of last year.
Allocations and changes for Bosque County cities in May included: Clifton – $109,810, down 9.82%; Cranfills Gap – $3,810, down 1.70%; Iredell – $3,646, down 76.02%; Meridian – $29,806.98, up 0.69%; Morgan – $5,546, up 4.80%; Valley Mills – $18,868, down 8.36%; Walnut Springs – $8,904, down 1.86%.
Allocations are based on sales made in March by businesses reporting tax monthly and January through March for quarterly filers.
