Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced last week that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.3 billion in local sales tax allocations for August, 5.2% more than in August 2024.
Hill County’s August allocation totaled $419,077, up 5.20% compared to last August. To date in 2025, the county’s payments have totaled $3,237,050, a 4.54% increase over the same time period last year.
The City of Whitney’s August allocation came to $98,280, up 13.04% over last August. Year to date, the city has taken in $700,158, up 8.32% compared to the same time period last year.
In the county seat, Hillsboro’s net payment in August was $560,320, up 4.30% compared to last June. For the year, Hillsboro’s sales tax allocations have totaled $4,047,406, up 12.59% compared to the first eight months of 2024.
Allocations and changes from last August for all Hill County cities were: Abbott – $13,097, up 23.93%; Aquilla – $2,043, up 22.50%; Blum – $4,468, up 10.61%; Bynum – $1,098, up 10.78%; Carl’s Corner – $5,299, up 7.36%; Covington – $7,239, up 2.17%; Hubbard – $34,481, up 19.24%; Itasca – $36,168, up 18.95%; Malone – $2,505, down 4.35%; Mertens – $468, down 3.61%; Mount Calm – $1,832, up 26.21%; Penelope – $1,276, up 17.52%; Whitney -$98,280, up 13.04%.
Bosque County’s August payment came to $98,872, an increase of 9.27% compared to last August. Year-to-date figures show the county receiving $732,714 so far in 2025, which is 13.80% more than last year through August.
Allocations and changes for Bosque County cities in August were: Clifton – $114,869, up 11.52%; Cranfills Gap – $3,548, down 6.95%; Iredell – $3,556, up 20.83%; Meridian – $30,689, up 18.42%; Morgan – $4,670, up 4.04%; Valley Mills – $17,662, down 4.90%; Walnut Springs – $8,073, up 15.11%.
These allocations are based on sales made in June by businesses that report tax monthly and on sales made in April, May and June by quarterly filers.
