A single-vehicle rollover in Peoria led to a fire and power outage Sunday afternoon, January 18.
At 3:09 p.m., Peoria Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the 3300 block of SH 22 after the driver of an eastbound Ford Escape failed to negotiate a curve safely. The vehicle left the roadway, crashed into a utility pole, overturned and ignited.
The fire also started a grass fire, which required additional assistance from Whitney firefighters.
Department of Public Safety Sergeant Ryan Howard said that no injuries were reported. The westbound lanes of the road were closed to traffic, and over 130 Peoria residents were without power through the night while utility crews made repairs.
Hill County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Texas Department of Public Safety also responded.
