The City of Whitney has announced several staffing updates after openings were recently announced for the city administrator, police chief and assistant city secretary positions.
While the City Council previously accepted Billy Pribble’s resignation and reviewed applications for the administrator’s position, the council accepted a new three-year contract with him at its February meeting.
In a press release, the city announced, “We actively worked through the recruitment and search process to ensure we explored every option for the future of the city’s leadership. At the same time, many citizens and elected officials shared their hope that we might find a way to maintain the current administrator’s leadership and continuity if possible. We listened.”
After a five-month search for a police chief that included multiple interviews, the city also announced that Joshua Scholes will return to his position as chief.
Library Director Christie Rogers will also begin serving as assistant city secretary while continuing her role with the library.
“These decisions reflect a balance of due diligence and responsiveness,” the release read. “We posted positions, conducted thorough searches, accepted applications and evaluated our options carefully — and we also heard the voices of our community. By tapping into the experience and expertise of seasoned staff members, we believe we are best positioned to continue serving our city with stability, professionalism and forward momentum.”
