The City of Whitney saw a notable increase in its monthly sales tax allocation when Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced March allocations last week.
The city’s March payment came to $94,009, up 36.50% compared to last March. Year to date in 2026, Whitney’s allocations have totaled $296,364, up 13% from the same time period last year.
In the county seat, Hillsboro’s March allocation was $470,284, up about 3% compared to last March. This year’s total through March is $1,554,019, also up about 3% over last year.
Hill County’s net allocation for March came to $367,586, about the same as last March. Year to date, the county’s payments have totaled $1,199,330, up about 1% from the same time period in 2025.
Allocations and changes from last March for other Hill County cities were: Abbott – $9,562.85, down 14.71%; Aquilla – $1,750.18, up 20.94%; Blum – $3,478.33, down 36.19%; Bynum – $1,021.35, up 14.63%; Carl’s Corner – $6,334.97, down 9.87%; Covington – $7,579.97, up 15.45%; Hubbard – $20,801.30, down 10.63%; Itasca – $23,808.10, down 0.08%; Malone – $2,425.83, up 27.77%; Mertens – $532.04, up 24.90%; Mount Calm – $1,920.42, up 11.38%; Penelope – $776.83, down 23.19%.
Bosque County’s March payment was $104,772, up about 35% compared to March 2025. Year-to-date figures show the county’s rebates totaling $351,870, up about 21% over the first three months of 2025.
Bosque County March allocations and changes were: Clifton – $105,789.32, up 39.88%; Cranfills Gap – $3,909.09, up 19.07%; Iredell – $3,924.07, up 44.61%; Meridian – $22,017.05, up 25.65%; Morgan – $3,761.52, down 15.54%; Valley Mills – $13,136.27, down 2.47%; Walnut Springs – $6,767.19, down 17.39%.
These allocations are based on sales made in January by businesses that report tax monthly.
