Local first responders worked together to rescue two people who were stranded on a rock ledge on Lake Whitney Saturday, March 21.
Bosque County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a report of a man and a woman who had been injured while cliff jumping and were trapped on a ledge near Canyon Boat Ramp in the Bee Bluff area at approximately 5 p.m.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department reported that due to the terrain and the couple’s medical conditions, they had to be lowered from the rock ledge and transported by boat to a landing zone, where they were transported by Air Evac helicopters for treatment.
Bosque County Sheriff’s Office said that the rescue required a coordinated operation with multiple agencies involved due to the location and severity of the situation.
Both individuals were secured onto backboards and lowered to rescuers in boats.
In addition to Bosque County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Parks and Wildlife and Air Evac, assistance was also provided by North Bosque EMS, Steele Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department, West Shore Volunteer Fire Department, White Bluff Volunteer Fire Department and Whitney Fire Rescue.
