Dr. Jay H. Oakey, DDS, a highly respected dentist in the community, recently returned from a week-long intensive training program in Portugal, where he focused on advanced techniques in dental implant surgery. The program, held at a renowned dental institute in Lisbon, specialized in extreme and complex cases of dental implants, further sharpening Dr. Oakey’s skills in this demanding field.
The training brought together leading experts from across the globe, giving Dr. Oakey the opportunity to observe and participate in surgeries involving patients with severe bone loss, advanced periodontal disease and other complicated oral health issues. These cases often present unique challenges, and the techniques Dr. Oakey learned in Portugal are expected to have a significant impact on his ability to treat patients in North Central Texas.
“Implant surgery has advanced rapidly over the past few years, and I want to make sure my patients are benefiting from the latest innovations,” Dr. Oakey said in a recent interview. “This experience in Portugal allowed me to learn from some of the best surgeons in the world, handling cases that require more than the standard approach to implants. I’m excited to bring these skills back home.”
Dr. Oakey is well-known in North Central Texas for his commitment to patient care and continuing education. With over 20 years of experience in dentistry, his practice has become a trusted resource for dental health, offering services that range from general dentistry to specialized treatments like implants and restorative procedures.
The recent training is expected to expand the range of patients Dr. Oakey can help, particularly those who may have been turned away by other practices due to the complexity of their needs. “We’ve had patients who have been told they weren’t candidates for implants because their cases were too complicated. Now, with the new techniques I’ve learned, we can provide options that weren’t available before,” Dr. Oakey explained.
While dental implants have become an increasingly popular solution for missing teeth, not all patients are straightforward candidates. The extreme cases Dr. Oakey trained for in Portugal often involve multiple surgical stages, bone grafting, or the use of cutting-edge materials to ensure successful outcomes for even the most challenging situations.
Dr. Oakey’s investment in his continuing education underscores his dedication to providing world-class care to the local community. Patients in need of complex dental work can now benefit from the expertise he gained overseas.
