The Hill County Commissioners Court will meet in a special session at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4, to discuss the resignation of a commissioner and ongoing data center litigation.
The court is expected to accept the resignation of Precinct 3 Commissioner Scotty Hawkins. The commissioner is in the middle of his term, with the Precinct 1 and 3 commissioner seats on the ballot again in 2028. See next week’s edition of The Lakelander for more information.
Commissioners are also expected to convene in closed session to discuss the lawsuit RCM Hill has filed against the county over its data center moratorium. In open session, the court will discuss a waiver request the company submitted for its proposed data center project on HCR 3106.
Several special agenda items also relate to the county’s efforts to place more restrictions on large-scale development. The court will discuss adopting National Fire Safety Standards as well as a data center development review checklist.
The court will also discuss issuing a proclamation regarding county review of large-scale industrial construction projects. Commissioners are also expected to issue a request for proposals from engineering firms that can review heavy industrial projects for the county.
The meeting will be held in the Hill County Courtroom of the courthouse in Hillsboro.
