Classes at Whitney Independent School District will resume Wednesday, August 12, and meet-the-teacher events have been announced ahead of the new school year.
Whitney Elementary School students will meet teachers Monday, August 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Whitney Intermediate School students will meet teachers the same night from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Whitney Middle School will hold an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 6, with individual class meeting times as follows: sixth grade – 5:30 to 6 p.m.; seventh grade – 6 to 6:30 p.m.; eighth grade – 6:30 to 7 p.m.
Whitney High School will host freshman orientation Thursday, August 6, from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
The daily start and end times at Whitney ISD campuses this year are: elementary – 7:50 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.; intermediate – 7:55 a.m. to 4 p.m.; middle school – 8 a.m. to 4:05 p.m.; and high school – 8:05 a.m. to 4:10 p.m.
Like last year, students will have multiple Mondays off, as they are listed as either “no school” or “staff development days” on the district calendar. See the full calendar at whitneyisd.org.
