The Whitney Lions Club is inviting young ladies from across the area to participate in the Miss Lake Whitney Pageant Saturday, September 26, at the Whitney ISD Auditorium, located at 305 South San Jacinto Street.
The pageant returns during an especially historic year for the community, as Whitney celebrates its 150th anniversary and the nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
“I was sad to learn that the chamber was not holding a pageant during this historic year, but excited that we were able to secure a safe, wonderful venue on such short notice,” organizer Dana Farias said. “On top of America250, and Whitney150, our community has a lot to celebrate. We are incorporating those historic themes into the competitions and displays and ask the community to please reach out if you have any memorabilia from previous pageants.”
The Whitney Lions Club, celebrating its 95th anniversary this year, is sponsoring this year’s pageant. The event will continue the longstanding Whitney tradition of celebrating confidence, community and hometown royalty.
Contestants will compete in four age divisions: Tiny Miss – ages 0–4; Lil’ Miss – ages 5–9; Jr. Miss – ages 10–14; and Miss – ages 15–19.
The entry fee is $25 per contestant, and admission for guests is $2. The deadline to submit an entry is Tuesday, September 8, at 11:59 p.m. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
Proceeds from the pageant will benefit PawsPlace Rescue, Inc., the Whitney Park Board and a pageant scholarship.
