Hill County unemployment rate stands at 4.4% in July

Hill County’s July unemployment rate was 4.4 percent, according to the latest data released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) last week.

TWC’s report shows that there were 844 unemployed Hill County residents in July out of a total civilian labor force of 19,052.

The July rate is slightly lower than June’s 4.6 percent rate but above the rate one year ago, when the July 2025 rate was reported to be 4 percent.

In Bosque County, the July unemployment rate held at 4.6 percent, the same as the June rate. There were 381 unemployed Bosque County residents in July out of a total civilian labor force of 8,366.

Bosque County’s rate is up from a year ago, when the July 2025 rate was reported at 4.1 percent.

Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Texas registered at 4.5 percent.

Texas added 1,600 nonfarm jobs in July to reach a total of 14,468,000 positions.

The private education and health services industry had the largest private sector over-the-month increase in July after adding 5,900 jobs. Professional and business services added 3,600 jobs over the month, while leisure and hospitality added 3,400.
