Albert Hunter has announced his candidacy for the Texas House of Representatives District 13 seat.
Hunter is a lifelong resident of Bosque County. He graduated from Meridian High School and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Tarleton State University.
After a 26-year career in public education, he retired and served for over five years as Bosque County’s Indigent Health Care coordinator.
Along the way, he held a variety of jobs while working his way through college, experiences that deepened his commitment to service and community involvement.
Today, Hunter works in farming and ranching, serves on the Bosque County Historical Committee, volunteers with North Bosque Helping Hands, sits on the advisory committee for the Heart of Texas Council of Governments and is a member of the Bosque County Retired Teachers Association. He is also a former school board member.
His priorities are public education, health and wellness, environmental stewardship and economic prosperity.
Hunter believes that children deserve great schools, everyone deserves adequate and affordable healthcare, women’s healthcare decisions are not the business of politicians, and rural Texas should stay green and have clean air. He says families deserve affordable housing, food security and safe neighborhoods.
District 13 encompasses Hill, Bosque, Limestone, Freestone, Falls, Leon and east McLennan counties.
Early voting will be October 19-30, with Election Day voting Tuesday, November 3.
The Lakelander Newspaper allows all candidates for local office to submit an article announcing their candidacy.
