Hill and Bosque County residents will join voters across Texas at the polls beginning Monday, October 19, when early voting opens for the November 3 general election. Voters will decide races ranging from U.S. Senate and U.S. House to governor and other state offices, along with several decisions closer to home.
Most county-level races were decided in the March primaries, but there will be a contested Hill County Precinct 3 commissioner race on the ballot after Scotty Hawkins’ recent resignation. Republican Martin Dudik, who was appointed to temporarily replace Hawkins, will be on the ballot along with Democrat Sarah Martin.
There will be a contested race for the Texas House District 13 seat, with incumbent Republican Angelia Orr of Hill County and Democrat Albert Hunter of Bosque County on the ballot.
A special election to fill the State Senate, District 22 seat will also be conducted, with Republican David Cook and Democrat Amy Martinez-Salas both seeking the seat vacated by Brian Birdwell. Voters will see two separate races for Texas Senate District 22 on the ballot: a special election to fill the remainder of Birdwell’s term, which ends in January 2027, and a regular election for the next four-year term beginning in January.
In Bosque County, there are two declared write-in candidates seeking a position. Republican Justin Blake is on the ballot seeking the county tax assessor-collector’s unexpired term, and Cindy Anderson is a write-in candidate. In the Bosque County Precinct 4 commissioner race, Republican Larry Musselman is on the ballot and Gary Liardon is a declared write-in candidate.
Hill County voters will have three early voting locations to choose from in Hillsboro, Whitney or Hubbard.
The main early voting location will be the Hill County Covington Street Annex, located at 126 South Covington Street in Hillsboro. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, October 19-23; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 24; noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 25; and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, October 26-30.
The Hill County Precinct 1 Annex, located at 5800 FM 933 in Whitney (Huron), will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays during the early voting period, and the Hubbard Volunteer Fire Department, located at 116 North Magnolia Avenue in Hubbard, will also be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekdays during early voting.
Bosque County early voters can cast ballots at either the Bosque County Elections Administration Office, at 104 West Morgan in Meridian, or the Clifton Civic Center, at 403 West 3rd Street in Clifton. Bosque County early voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. the first week of early voting; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 24; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 25; and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. the second week of early voting.
The last day to apply for a ballot by mail is Friday, October 23. Applications must be received, not postmarked, by the deadline. Applications should be mailed or hand delivered to the appropriate elections office.
