Nine members of the Whitney High School boys powerlifting team advanced to the regional competition in West held Saturday, March 11, and Giovanni Sanchez, pictured above, advanced to the state competition with a fifth-place finish in his weight class and a qualifying total of 850 pounds. Trey Haynes also placed fourth in his class at regionals.
