The 2604 Volunteer Fire Department is announcing a new chapter in its history with an official department name change to Cedar Creek Volunteer Fire Department that took effect in December 2025.
Along with the new name, the department unveiled a new logo that reflects its continued commitment to serving the community with professionalism, dedication and pride.
To celebrate this milestone, Cedar Creek VFD will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday, July 4 at 10 a.m. in partnership with the Lake Whitney Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony will officially recognize the department’s transition and future vision and will be held immediately prior to the department’s annual barbecue sandwich fundraiser.
Community members, local leaders, neighboring emergency service agencies and supporters are invited to attend the ribbon cutting and stay to enjoy a barbecue sandwich while supporting the volunteer fire department’s mission of protecting lives and property throughout the Cedar Creek area.
The department’s success is made possible through the dedication and leadership of its officers, board members, volunteers and chaplains.
Department leadership includes: Chief Robert Matthews, Assistant Chief Rob Kidnew, Captain Kevin Fregia, Captain Monte Freeman and Captain Roger Miranda.
Members of the Board of Directors include: President Jacey Fregia, Vice President Sissy Wyatt, Secretary Frances Freeman and Treasurer Jason Byrd.
Department chaplains are Diane Fredrickson and Bob Kidew.
“This name change and new logo represent more than a new identity—they symbolize our department’s continued evolution and dedication to serving our citizens today and for generations to come,” said department leadership. “We are excited to celebrate this milestone with our community and recognize the volunteers, board members and supporters who make our mission possible.”
