Whitney Fire Rescue will host its first annual Smash and Dash event Saturday, June 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Whitney.
The day will begin with a 5K run and continue with a variety of family-friendly activities, including a vendor fair and a hands-on vehicle smash experience.
Visitors will also be able to purchase barbecue brisket and turkey legs, while children can enjoy activities planned throughout the day.
The fire department will conduct rescue equipment demonstrations and display emergency vehicles.
Carter BloodCare will be on site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to host a community blood drive.
Organizers said the event is designed to bring the community together while showcasing the work of local first responders.
