Aquilla Independent School District was briefly placed on lockdown as the Hill County Sheriff’s Office investigated a call at a nearby home Wednesday, September 16.
Hill County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Tim Westmoreland said that deputies responded to the 700 block of North Richards Street in Aquilla just after 9 a.m. in response to a report of a shooting and stabbing, but responding authorities determined that neither had occurred.
Because the home was near the school, the sheriff’s office notified Aquilla ISD and the school was placed on lockdown.
Westmoreland said that deputies transported one adult male to an area inpatient mental health facility for evaluation. No injuries were reported.
The district lifted its lockdown after the sheriff’s office concluded its investigation.
