The McLennan County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, in partnership with area beef and forage committees in Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Hill, Limestone and McLennan counties, will host the 16th Annual Central Texas Stocker Cattle Program Wednesday, June 24, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The morning will start with a breakfast provided by AgTrust Farm Credit, followed by featured presentations from industry specialists.
Dr. Sonja Swiger, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Entomology Specialist, will provide an update on New World Screwworm. Dr. Jared Ranly will lead a discussion on chute side stocker cattle processing. Marvin Walls will explain how to be aware of online marketplace scams.
Ariana Jaraczewski and Kristen Newman will provide updates from the USDA Farm Service Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Services.
Dr. Jason Banta will cover the importance of nutrition in stocker cattle programs. Dusty Lynch will speak on livestock risk protection insurance.
Dr. David Anderson will conclude the program with a cattle market update. Sponsor presentations and door prize drawings will follow.
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The cost will be $20 per person, which includes breakfast and a steak lunch.
One Integrated Pest Management Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education unit hour will be offered.
